Ingredients
2 cups dry milk powder (140g)
3/4 cup arrowroot or cornstarch (96g)
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Preparation
Preparation & Storage Combine all dry ingredients in a glass mason jar. Seal tightly and shake vigorously until the mixture is uniform. Store in a cool, dry place; for best quality, use within 6 months.
To Reconstitute (Equal to 1 Standard Can):
Combine: Whisk 1/3 cup of dry mix with 1 1/4 cups of your liquid of choice (water, milk, or broth) in a small saucepan.
Thicken: Whisk over medium heat until smooth. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly for 2 minutes or until the mixture reaches a rich, thick consistency.
Signature Variations
Cream of Mushroom: Use water or vegetable broth as your liquid. Once thickened, fold in 1/4 cup of finely diced, sautéed mushrooms.
Cream of Chicken: Substitute the water for 1/14 cups of savory chicken broth. For a heartier version, add a pinch of dried thyme.
Cream of Celery: Use water or milk as your liquid. Once thickened, stir in 1/4 cup of tender, sautéed celery.
